Hard drive shredding
Physical destruction down to a small fragment
If a hard drive cannot or may not be reused, we shred it to a fragment size according to DIN 66399. For magnetic media we apply degaussing as an additional step; this does not work on non-magnetic media. You receive a certificate per device.

Fragment size per security level
DIN 66399 links a security level to the fragment size after shredding. By default we shred hard drives to a maximum of 6 mm (DIN 66399 H5, example); another level is negotiable. Magnetic media are degaussed first, then shredded.

Questions about hard drive shredding
What is DIN 66399?
The German standard that links security levels to the maximum fragment size after shredding. We apply 6 mm by default (H5, example); another level is discussed in advance.
Does degaussing work on every hard drive?
Only on magnetic media such as HDDs and tapes. Degaussing has no effect on non-magnetic media such as SSDs.
What happens to the scrap after shredding?
It goes to recycling as scrap metal, separated from the other material streams.
Can I request a different security level than 6 mm?
Yes, DIN 66399 defines multiple levels. We discuss in advance which level suits the sensitivity of your data.
